When I think about books, I think of Dieter Roth, his Scheisse books,
diaries and published notebooks. They embody the ability of a book to
stand as a work of art in its own right and to provide a medium for
artistic experimentation.
The process of making a book is in many ways comparable to creating an
exhibition. In both, I try to provide artists with the instruments
necessary to make concrete their ideas.
I love books that break out beyond the boundaries of the page and
provoke us to think in fresh and exciting ways. It is the ability of a
book to perform that magic transformation of ideas and artistic venture
into a material object that draws me to books and inspires me to
produce them.
