this is the most interesting time ever to be making books.
real books: paper, ink, cloth, board, thread, ribbon, foil.
with a smell for the nose and a feeling for the fingers and an experience for the eyes without electricity.

at little steidl we are exploring
bookmaking in art, architecture, food, and fashion.
these are areas of culture in which we
feel we can access some of the most agile minds.

at little steidl we are also discovering
all the tricks that Gerhard Steidl will teach us
and a few that we steal along the way.
we are building on his knowledge and inspiration.

little steidl books are a creative medium.
the artist is always in the first person, the one who matters.
our hands are the helpers.
we leave it to the reader to be the interpreter.

if it is an interesting time to make books, it is also a good time to be little.
what is necessary, personal, human, and lasting is little.

humans all make art and have forever.
we all live in and experience architecture.
we all eat every day – so food is a natural.
how we dress is super fun.
